MASTER OF DIVINITY (MDiv)

The Master of Divinity (MDiv) is a 93 credit-hour professional degree designed for those who have a bachelor’s degree and are serving or preparing to serve, on a church staff or in other ministry positions. Students develop competencies in Biblical theology, church history, doctrine, spiritual formation, as well as servant leadership skills required for local church ministry. MASTERS CERTIFICATE IN MINISTRY (MCM)

The courses for this program are the same as the Masters in Divinity Degree . It is for individuals who want advanced learning in Biblical Studies and Ministry but do not have an undergraduate degree or an interest in getting one.

The Masters Certificate in Ministry (MCM) is a 45 credit-hour professional degree designed for those who have a bachelor’s degree and are serving or preparing to serve, on a church staff or in other ministry positions. Students develop competencies in Biblical theology, church history, doctrine, spiritual formation, as well as servant leadership skills required for local church ministry. MASTER OF ARTS IN CHRISTIAN COUNSELING (MCC)

The  Masters of Arts in Christian Counseling program prepares students to serve as staff servant-leaders involved in non-professional counseling of church members and others in a variety of ministry settings, including churches, rescue missions, and shelters. Courses provide students with a strong understanding of biblical counseling principles and strategies in order to better meet the needs of others. This degree program is well-suited for students looking to meet the requirements to serve as military chaplains for certain branches of the armed services. Requirements for the Master of Christian Counseling degree include 10 core Biblical and Theological Studies courses, advanced specialized training in Christian Counseling, clinical supervision, internship, practicum, and a 3 credit-hour thesis, and qualify the graduate as a Licensed Clinical Pastoral Counselor or Licensed Clinical Christian Counselor, with Board Certification in his or her chosen specialty areas by the NCCA. More than 1,700 persons in the United States have been certified by NCCA as licensed Christian counselors, making it the largest such credentialing agency in the nation. (Over 4,000 counselors have been licensed world-wide by NCCA.)

The Master of Christian Counseling degree requires a cumulative 60 credit-hours of coursework.

Doctor of Ministry (D.Min)

The Doctor of Ministry degree is a practice-oriented doctorate for pastors and ministry leaders. The goal of the program is to develop and equip reflective practitioners at a doctoral level with new levels of theological discernment and practical skills for the art of ministry leadership. DMin students will be stretched theologically and exposed to new models of ministry.

Entrance Requirements

  • Masters Degree from an accredited college, university or seminary

Course Requirements

  • 33 total credit hours of coursework
  • A 9 credit hours of thesis required

DOCTOR OF THEOLOGY

The DTh degree program is offered to students wishing to enhance their knowledge and ministerial skills or teaching competence in certain advanced areas of theology and ministry. The DTh program at STCU has a strong academic focus and biblical foundation, with a clear connection to the church.

Candidates for the Doctor of Theology degree will specialize in one of the fields of theological scholarship, such as: Biblical Studies; Hebrew Bible/Old Testament; New Testament and Early Christian Studies; History of Christianity; Systematic Theology; Christian Ethics; Spiritual Leadership.

Requirements for the DTh Degree

All applicants must have BS and Masters

The Doctor of Theology degree requires 52 credit-hours of study and extends through three stages: coursework, Knowledge Area Modules (KAM), and dissertation. Candidates for this degree must fulfill the following:

  • 39   total credit hours of coursework
  • A 9 credit hours of dissertation required
